PARK CITY, Kan.
(July 9, 2007) – It has been a
quiet stretch for the NCRA 360s with
only one show in the past six weeks.
That will quickly change as the O’Reilly
NCRA Sprint Car Series, presented by
ICM/Ethanol, heats it up the next three
weeks.
Things will start poppin’
when the winged warriors invade RPM
Speedway in Hays, Kan., on Saturday.
When they visited the brand new track
last year, Garry Lee Maier ran away from
the field and won his fifth feature of
the season. Following him to the checker
were J.D. Johnson, Mike Chadd, Luke
Cranston, and Marc Robe.
After a slow start this
year, Maier swept three shows over
Memorial Day weekend and jumped ahead of
Don Droud Jr. into the point lead. Maier
now has a record 59 career NCRA
victories.
Andy Shouse took the
checker in their last show, July 3 at 81
Speedway, followed by Gavin Punch, Mike
Peters, rookie Koby Barksdale, and
Johnson. A racing incident collected
Maier and forced him to restart at the
back. He finished 15th, one spot worse
than Droud.
Former rookie of the year
Stu Snyder is third in points, while
Peters moved from fifth to fourth and
Chadd fell one spot to fifth. Derek
Drown, J.D. Johnson, C.J. Johnson, Jon
Freeman, and A.J. Selenke round out the
top 10.
