Anderson Leads NCRA Late Models into
Hutch, Dodge City
PARK CITY, Kan. (July 24,
2007) –
Another busy weekend of racing is on tap for the
O’Reilly NCRA Late Model Series, presented by
ICM/Ethanol. After the two-day Late Model
Nationals at Mid-Nebraska Speedway last weekend,
they will hit the dirt twice this week as well.
Friday it’s NCRA versus TORA in a co-sanctioned
show at Hutchinson (Kan.) Raceway Park. It is
their first head-to-head confrontation in
several years.
Saturday the
series rolls into Dodge City (Kan.) Raceway Park
for a wild-west shootout. This will be their
only trip of the season to Dodge City. In their
only appearance last year, Steve Kosiski took
the checker ahead of Kelly Boen and Delbert
Smith. Over the last three seasons (2004-06),
Boen has two wins and a second in five shows
here.
Last weekend at
Mid-Nebraska, two-time defending series champion
Boen and 2002 champ Kyle Berck rumbled with each
other as they both grabbed victories.
Boen, from
Henderson, Colo., won his second race of the
season Friday with Berck in second. Saturday
they reversed roles as Berck, from nearby
Marquette, Neb., bagged the $4,000 payday with
his first series win this year, with Boen the
runner-up.
Point leader John Anderson was third each day,
adding to his remarkable string of feature
results. He has finished no worse than fourth in
each of the eight features this year. The Omaha,
Neb., driver has two wins, a second, four
thirds, and one fourth.
Anderson’s
performance last weekend kept him on top of the
standings, but just barely. He holds a slim
15-point margin over Boen, while Berck moved up
to third. He replaced Delbert Smith, who’s two
DNFs dropped him two spots to fifth. With a pair
of top five finishes, Mike Wiarda moved from
fifth to fourth in the standings.
