Park City, Kan. - (May 11, 2008) - Race
number two and three on the O'Reilly/NCRA presented by
ICM/Ethanol modified tour will take place this coming
weekend as the series heads to Humboldt Speedway in
Humboldt, Kansas on Friday night (May 16) before heading
west to Enid Speedway Park in Enid, Oklahoma for a
Saturday night appearance.
In last weeks season opener at 81 Speedway in Park
City, Kansas, 57 drivers from five states were on hand
as 2007 series rookie of the year Jeremy Massey went
unchallenged to picked up the thirty lap victory and
secure the top of the point standings. Massey finished
second in the point standings his rookie season.
Last year, 48 drivers took to "The Hummer" of
Humboldt which saw series champion Brian Franz lead wire
to wire the thirty lap "A" feature which saw only one
caution flag the entire event. Franz, who had to hold
off local Travis Patch throughout that event, would go
on to capture his fifth consecutive division
championship.
Leading the NCRA contingent into Humboldt is current
series point leader Massey, along with fellow touring
regulars Jim Johnson, former series champion and track
favorite Johnny Allen, Brian Casey, Marc Hurd, Brandon
Morton, Greg Stephens, Kenny Sweet, Jr. and the
father-son duo of Troy and Brenden Gemmill.
Several drivers from outside the state of Kansas have
indicated their intentions on competing for the
O'Reilly/NCRA modified rookie of the year. They include
Edmond, Oklahoma driver Tyler Propps, Des Moines, Iowa
drivers Brad Moriarty and Mike Bennett and
Hasty, Arkansas Rick Trammell.
Humboldt Speedway will be well represented with track
regulars Ryan Whitworth, Jess and Justin Folk, Jessy
Willard and Scott Daniels expected to compete. Close to
fify drivers are expected.
The 1/4 mile, high-banked oval of Humboldt Speedway
is located off of US 169 to Humboldt exit, then 0.1 mile
west, then 0.5 mile south, then 0.9 mile east. For race
information, contact the track (620) 473-3694.
The following night the tour heads to the 3/8th mile
fairgrounds oval of Enid Speedway Park where last year
saw Massey earn his first career series victory with a
last lap pass over Franz.
Enid Speedway Park is located 2.5 miles north of US
412 on US 81, the one half mile east on West Oxford,
located on the Garfield County Fairgrounds. For more
race information, contact the track (580) 234-4488.
The National Championship Racing Association is
entering it's 38th season of sanctioning dirt track
races, this year in five different states in its sprint
car, modified and late model divisions combined. The
