PARK CITY,
Kan. (May 17, 2007) – Two Nebraska late model
drivers have announced their intentions to run with the
O’Reilly NCRA Late Model Series, presented by ICM/Ethanol,
in 2007.
Billy Murphy and Greg
Larsen recently informed NCRA late model series steward
Chris Smith of their plans.
Murphy lost his ride
during the off-season when his co-car owner decided to get
out of racing. The Kearney driver is borrowing a limited
late model to run both shows over Memorial Day weekend. He
hopes to do well enough to get a green light from the car
owner to do the full season.
Murphy was third in
the 2006 standings behind series champion Kelly Boen and
Steve Kosiski. A racing injury will keep Boen out of the
first few shows and Kosiski has retired from driving. That
leaves Murphy as the top returning driver in last year’s
standings for opening weekend.
Larsen, from
Plattsmouth, plans to run the full NCRA schedule in 2007. He
had competed in selected events with the NCRA over the past
few years.
The series opens its
2007 season May 25 at Mid-Nebraska Speedway in Doniphan,
Neb., and then travels east to Nebraska Raceway Park in
Greenwood, Neb., for a May 27 show at I-80 Speedway.
