NCRA to
Require Raceceivers in Late Model Series
By Randy Fisher
PARK CITY, Kan. (May
8, 2007) – The National Championship Racing Association
announced today that RACEceivers will be mandatory for its late
model series this season.
A
RACEceiver is a one-way transmitter designed to enhance
communication between race officials and cars on the track. It
allows the officials to expedite lining up starts and restarts,
and to communicate other race-related safety information to the
drivers.
The NCRA
will sell a basic unit, complete with earpiece, for $100. They
will have an upgraded model with a higher quality earpiece
available for sale at $150. The series will also rent the basic
unit on race nights for $20 each. The upgraded model will not be
available to rent.
The
RACEceiver will be required at the series’ first event, which is
May 25 at Mid-Nebraska Speedway in Doniphan, Neb., and at every
event throughout the season.
Drivers
may purchase a RACEceiver in advance by contacting Chris Smith,
NCRA Late Model Series steward, at (918) 625-6200.
